Blog Action Day

Unfortunately, more and more people are becoming poverty stricken. You may think that it can only happen to someone that has no job and no home. You would be wrong. Poverty, in this day and age with a tanking economy, and high gas prices, can happen to anyone. For poverish countries such as Zambia and Haiti, life is different for everyone. In the states, we have many things to fall back on. Family and government facilities can help those who fall in poverty’s wrath. That is why it’s most important for us as youth to bring awareness to this subject. Statistics are even more frightening. Billions of people in the US live on less than a dollar a day. This is shocking. If we don’t do something now, who knows where we will be in 2 years. Not only is economy a factor, the way we are as human beings effects it all. We should be more willing to donate our time and money to notable organizations for a better community. Volunteer work such as helping at a homeless shelter will give you a sense of pride and be substantial in changing lives. A little helping hand can make a difference in someones life. So do a little, it can be a lot.

Poverty is very devastating to think of. I like the map that is shown to show the blogging world on how much poverty has increased. Since I can not see the colors, knowing from prior knowledge, Africa is a very poor continent and I am guessing it is yellow because of that.

Hey Fariha – thanks for dropping past The Edublogger and telling me what you are enjoying about the Student blogging competition. I agree I’m also enjoying reading everyone’s different points of view and gained a lot from reading the posts on poverty.

    Keep up the great work.

    Hi!
Our clss blog: http://huzzah.edublogs.org/ has two videos near the bottom about poverty. It was terribly sad the first tim I saw it. My favourite one was the girl effect, though. If you go to my blog, all the way down and click on recent posts, youll get up to a page where ther is a post called “Poverty and the Girl Effect” and there are two links to my class blog’s videos from YouTube.
